- Start Your Boarding School Research. The spring and summer before your application year is the ideal time to build your school list and begin serious research. Visit the websites of schools that interest you and evaluate them across multiple dimensions: academic rigor, extracurricular offerings, campus location, dorm life, community culture and financial aid generosity.
- Pro tip: Build a tracking spreadsheet that lists each school, its application platform, key deadlines, testing requirements, and financial aid process. Updating it consistently throughout the year will save you significant stress later.
